The historic "French Monument" and other issues - 14.11.2008

In a letter to the Mayor of Paros, the FoP expressed support for the Municipality's announced intentions for the paving of the seafront of Paroikia, improvements to the Agrokipio of Paroikia and other matters. The FoP also raised their concern about the state of the historic "French Monument" which is in danger of collapsing. They asked the Municipality to take the necessary actions to save the monument by relocating or restoring it, and offered to contribute towards the realisation of the chosen solution.

Common Declaration - 6.12.2006

The cooperation of the FoP with other local associations started a few years ago. Representatives of FoP, “Archilochos” and “Nireas” discussed cultural and environmental issues concerning the island and issued a common declaration on 6/12/2006. This declaration expressed concern at the excessive and uncontrolled building activity, and addressed the multiple environmental problems emanating from it: water supply; waste disposal; sewerage; road traffic and parking; pollution of all kinds; and lowering of the quality of life. It included ten indicative proposals, which remain a point of reference in the continuing efforts we are making in close cooperation with other local associations to save the character of Paros and ensure its sustainable development.

Message to the Municipal Council - 11.6.2007

A message from the FoP was read at the meeting of 11.6.2007 of the Municipal Council of Paros by Manos Kaparis, member of FoP, on the subject of "What Paros Do We Want?", stressing the importance of preserving the Cycladic character of the island which is threatened by the rapid and uncontrolled building activity.

Letter to the Mayor on the proposals for the redevelopment of the Parikia seafront - 20.12.2011

On 20.12.2011 the FoP addressed a letter to the Mayor of Paros expressing concern at the latest proposals which are understood to include 1) the creation of a car park on the seafront near the bus station, 2) the raising of the street level to the level and the demarcation of the pedestrian area with bollards, 3) the construction of boardwalk on the rocks of the seafront. Letter to the Mayor on the proposals for the redevelopment of the Parikia seafront - 19.03.2012

The FoP return to this issue stressing the importance of developing a master plan for the redevelopment of the seafront of Paikia that will respect the "cycladic aesthetics" and will involve the gradual removal of the artificially added expanse of "rocks" and their reuse in forming small "refuges" for small fishing boats and pleasure craft.
