2012: 10th Anniversary of Friends of Paros
The FoP continue their activities since the Summer of 2011 and plan a number of events for 2012 to mark the 10th anniversary of the association.
The Administration Board of FoP wishes a Happy and Prosperous New Year to all the members of the association and all Parians and their families.
In 2012 the FoP complete 10 years of continuous work in support of the development of Paros combined with the preservation of the Cycladic character of the island.
Since the Summer we have been active in various fields including the further development of the strategic plan “PAROS 20202”, covering different aspects such as the future of tourism, the long-term management of water resources, the potential benefits and impacts of the new airport, proposals for the creation of an “environment observatory”.
Most recently, we have made representations to the Mayor of Paros expressing our concerns regarding the current proposals for the redevelopment of the Paroikia seafront.
Our first event for 2012 will take place on 20 January 2012 in Brussels, including dinner, cultural programme and presentation of G. Pittas’s book on “Aegean Festivals”.
The planning of a new activity on 13, 14 and 15 July 2012, known as “Odoiporiko sta Atelie Kallitechnon” (Walks to Artists’ Studios), is progressing. It will involve local artists opening their studios to visitors for three days.
Last but not least, the Annual Event of the FoP is scheduled for 3rd August 2012. It will be a special event marking the 10th anniversary of our association and will be celebrated in the Environmental and Cultural Part of Ai Yannis Detis.
