“PAROS 2020”: Consultations on 22 and 28 August 2011

Τhe Friends of Paros have initiated the preparation of a long-term vision and strategic plan for the development of the island through a participative and inclusive process. Consultation meetings on the initial outline of "Paros 2020" took place on 22.08.11 at the Town Hall of Paros and on 28.08.11 at the Gallery APOTHIKI in Parikia. Further work on the development of "Paros 2020" is continuing throughout the Winter of 2011/12.

Winter Event in Brussels - 20.01.2012

The FoP, together with other associations, organised a successful winter event on 20.01.2012 in Brussels.

2012: 10th Anniversary of Friends of Paros

The FoP continue their activities since the Summer of 2011 and plan a number of events for 2012 to mark the 10th anniversary of the association.

Letter to DEYAP on the need for long-term planning - 09.01.2012

Following the recent interview given to "Parianos Typos" by Mr S. Fragoulis, President of DEYAP, on the progress with the installation of new desalination units and the current requirements for water supply, the FoP sent him a letter on the need for a long-term perspective in the management of water resources of the island.

Annual Event of the FoP and Distinctions - 11.08.2011

Τhe Annual Event of the FoP and fund raising dinner took place on 11 August 2011 at Swiss Home Hotel, Naoussa. Distinctions were awarded to the publications “Paros Life” and “Ta Pariana” for their contribution to the cultural life of the island.

Letter to the Mayor on the proposals for the redevelopment of the Paroikia seafront - 20.12.2011

On 20.12.2011 the FoP addressed a letter to the Mayor of Paros expressing concern at the latest proposals which are understood to include 1) the creation of a car park on the seafront near the bus station, 2) the raising of the street level to the level and the demarkation of the pedestrian area with bollards, 3) the construction of boardwalk on the rocks of the seafront.
